Guitar tips: make any progression sound better

If a progression feels “fine but not musical yet,” the fix is often rhythm and voice leading — not new chords. Start by tightening your strumming pattern and aiming for clean changes on beats 1 and 3.

Next, try one small color change: add a sus4 before a major chord resolves, or turn the V chord into a V7 to increase pull back to I. These tiny changes create motion without making the part harder to play.

Finally, practice with a steady tempo. Even 10 minutes with a groove behind your chords will improve timing faster than random noodling.
